Are You Ready to be an Entrepreneur?

Successful entrepreneurs are generally part of an optimistic breed with an eye to the future. They are willing to roll with the punches and move forward with persistence and flexibility. They seem willing to forego immediate gratification for the vision of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They are creative problem-solvers who are able to confidently deal with whatever roadblocks they may encounter. They are motivated, focused and believe intensely in themselves. So much so, that they are willing to risk their money and their egos to come out on top.

Entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of a prosperous economy. They create a nation’s wealth, its jobs and its opportunities.

Here are some questions to ask yourself before you venture out into the world of the self-employed:

  1. Probably the most important…are you passionate about your new undertaking?
  2. Do you love the idea of being your own boss?
  3. Do you envision a reality that others would consider only a dream?
  4. Are you willing to take some financial risk to get your business off the ground?
  5. Are you willing to work harder than everyone else today so that you can have it easier than everyone else tomorrow?
  6. Is your family or significant other supportive of your new endeavor?
  7. Are you a self-starter?
  8. Do you like to be challenged? Every successful entrepreneur knows what a thrill it is to meet a challenge and come out a winner!
  9. Being in business is about building and maintaining relationships. Do you interact well with others?
  10. Remember, you will now be the boss!
  11. Are you good at leading others? Are you organized? Surrounding yourself with order will immediately make you feel calmer and more in control.
  12. Do you understand that success is not just having a great idea, but being ready to take massive action?
  13. Are you willing to continually learn new things in order to reach (and stay) at the top of your industry?
  1. Are you willing to hold yourself accountable?

If your answer to most of these questions was “yes”, then you are probably ready to do what it takes. Now, if you can do what you love and love what you do, you will be on your way toward starting your new business and building a rewarding future for yourself and your family.
